Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 4, 2026
In short
- The app has no accounts. We never ask for your name, email address or phone number.
- Listen Mode uses the microphone only while you have it switched on. Microphone audio is processed on your device and is never sent to us or to anyone else.
- The app uses Google services to show ads in the free version, to count how the app is used, and to report crashes. These services collect device identifiers and technical data, described below.
- Buying Premium removes the ads. Payments are handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store, not by us.
1. Who we are
Baby White Noise (the "app") is published by EP Apps ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Baby White Noise mobile app on Android and iOS and the pages under ep-apps.com/baby-white-noise. You can reach us at [email protected].
2. Information the app handles
Microphone (Listen Mode)
Listen Mode is an optional Premium feature. When you start it, the app asks for microphone permission and measures how loud the room is, so it can start your chosen sound when it detects sustained loud noise such as crying, and stop it again after a quiet period.
- The microphone is used only while Listen Mode is switched on. It stops when you turn Listen Mode off.
- The loudness measurement happens on your device. Microphone audio is not uploaded, transmitted or shared, and we have no access to it.
- While Listen Mode is on, your device's audio recorder may write temporary audio data to the app's private storage as part of taking the measurement. That data stays on your device and the app does not play it back, send it or use it for anything else.
- You can withdraw the permission at any time in your device settings. The rest of the app works without it.
Usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
To understand which sounds and features are used, the app sends usage events to Google Analytics for Firebase. The events we record are:
- which sound was played;
- how long a listening session lasted;
- that Premium was purchased, and how many days after installation.
Google Analytics also collects information automatically, including an app instance identifier, device model, operating system version, language, app version, general location (country or region, derived from your IP address), session and engagement data, and, depending on your device settings and consent choices, your device's advertising identifier.
Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)
If the app crashes or hits an error, a report is sent to Firebase Crashlytics so we can fix it. A report contains technical details about the error, the device model, operating system version, app version, the time of the crash, and an installation identifier created by Crashlytics.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version shows a banner ad on the home screen, served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, AdMob collects information such as your device's advertising identifier, IP address (which indicates general location), device and app information, and how you interact with ads.
- If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or another region where consent is required, the app shows a Google consent form before any ad is requested. You can change your choice later under Settings, in Ad Privacy Choices, whenever that option is shown.
- On iOS, the app asks for permission to track before the consent form. If you decline, ads can still be shown but are not based on tracking across other companies' apps and websites.
- Ads are not shown once Premium is unlocked.
Purchases
Premium is a one-time purchase handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. The store tells the app whether the purchase was completed so the app can unlock Premium, and can restore it if you reinstall.
App updates
The app may check a server operated by Expo for updated app code. These requests include technical information such as the app version and platform, and, as with any internet request, your IP address is visible to the server.
Information stored only on your device
The app saves a few settings on your device: your chosen language, whether Premium is unlocked, the date the app was first opened, and a counter used to decide when to ask for a store rating. This information is removed when you uninstall the app. The playback notification is created locally. The app does not send push notifications.
3. Information we do not collect
The app does not ask for or collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, precise location, or any information about your child.
4. How the information is used
- To provide the app's features, including Listen Mode and unlocking Premium.
- To understand how the app is used and improve it.
- To find and fix crashes and errors.
- To show ads in the free version and measure their performance.
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on your consent for advertising that uses identifiers and for any other processing where consent is required by law, and otherwise on our legitimate interest in keeping the app working, reliable and improving.
5. Who receives information
We do not sell your personal information. Information is processed by the following service providers, each under its own privacy terms:
- Google (AdMob, Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics, Google Play): Google Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
- Apple (App Store purchases on iOS): Apple Privacy Policy.
- Expo (app update service): Expo Privacy Policy.
Showing ads that use your advertising identifier may count as "sharing" or "targeted advertising" under some US state privacy laws. You can opt out using the choices in section 7.
These providers may process information in the United States and other countries outside your own.
6. How long information is kept
We do not run our own servers for this app and hold no copy of your data ourselves. Analytics, crash and advertising data is kept by the providers above for limited periods set by those services. Settings stored on your device remain until you uninstall the app or clear its data.
7. Your choices and rights
- Ads: use Ad Privacy Choices in the app's Settings where it is shown, reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings, or unlock Premium to remove ads.
- Microphone: turn Listen Mode off, or remove the microphone permission in your device settings.
- Everything else: uninstalling the app removes the data stored on your device and stops all further collection.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal information, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Because the app has no accounts, we usually cannot tell which data belongs to you. If you write to [email protected], we will explain how to make your request and help as far as we are able.
8. Children
Baby White Noise is a tool for parents and caregivers. It is intended to be operated by adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we will help.
9. Security
Information sent by the app to the service providers above is encrypted in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. This website
These pages do not use cookies or analytics. They are hosted by Cloudflare and load fonts from Google Fonts, so those companies receive your IP address and browser details when you visit, as with any website.
11. Changes to this policy
If the app or this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's store listing or in the app.
12. Contact
Questions or requests about privacy: [email protected].
