In short

1. Who we are

Solitaire: Classic Klondike (the "app") is published by EP Apps ("we", "us"). This policy covers the app on Android and the pages under ep-apps.com/solitaire. You can reach us at [email protected].

2. Information the app handles

Advertising (Google AdMob, free version only)

The free version shows one banner ad under the buttons of the game screen, served by Google AdMob. The app shows no full-screen, video or rewarded ads, and the ad software is muted. To serve and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads software in the app collects information such as:

Google may use this information to show ads based on your interests (personalized ads) where that is allowed, and otherwise to show ads based on context, to limit how often you see an ad, to measure ad performance and to detect fraud. On devices that support Android's Privacy Sandbox, the ad software may also use the advertising topics and attribution features provided by Android. After you buy Premium, the app no longer requests ads.

Consent

Each time the app starts, it asks Google's User Messaging Platform whether consent is needed where you are. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, and in other places where the law requires it, the app shows Google's consent form before any ad is requested, and you can consent, refuse ("Do not consent") or choose by purpose ("Manage options"). To decide this, Google's consent software receives your IP address and basic device and app information. The app does not request any ad until the consent software says ads may be requested. If that cannot be determined, for example when the device is offline the first time the app opens, no ads are shown. Where privacy options are required, the app's Settings show "Ad privacy choices", which reopens the form so you can change your choice at any time. If you refuse consent, Google may still show ads that are not personalized, under its own terms.

The same answer controls usage statistics (below): they are switched on only where consent is not required, or where you agreed to "Store and/or access information on a device".

We do not choose the individual ads and do not receive the information that Google collects about you. We see only combined statistics in our AdMob account, such as the number of ads shown and estimated earnings.

Usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase)

To understand how the app is used in general, for example how many people play each day, which draw mode is popular and how often games are won, the app uses Google Analytics for Firebase. Collection is off when the app is installed and is switched on only when the consent rules above allow it. When it is on, Analytics records:

It does not record your name, email, the deal numbers you play or the cards in your games. Our AdMob account is linked to the Firebase project, so ad earnings and usage statistics can be seen together; this link combines statistics and does not give us information about you as a person. Google keeps the event-level data for 2 months, and keeps reports made from it in combined form. Debug versions of the app used for development never send statistics.

Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)

If the app crashes or hits an error, a report is sent to Firebase Crashlytics, a Google service, so we can find and fix the problem. A report contains technical details about the error, such as where in the app's code it happened, the device model, operating system version, app version, the time of the crash, and installation identifiers created by Firebase. These identifiers are random and are not your advertising identifier. A report does not include your games or any personal details. If the device is offline, the report is sent the next time the app opens with a connection. Crash reports are kept for 90 days and are sent whatever your choice about ads, because they are needed to keep the app working.

Purchases (Google Play)

Premium is a one-time in-app purchase made through Google Play. Google processes the payment under its own terms and privacy policy; we never see your card or payment details. The app receives from Google Play only a confirmation that the purchase is valid, confirms it to Google Play (as Google requires), and saves on your device that Premium is owned, so it works without a connection. When the app starts, it also asks Google Play quietly whether this Google account already owns Premium, so a purchase made on another phone or before reinstalling is found again.

Rating the app

Once per installation, after your third win, the app may ask Google Play to show its own rating window. Google decides whether to show it, and any rating you give goes to Google Play, not to us. The "Rate the app" row in Settings opens the app's page in Google Play.

Information stored only on your device

The app saves the following in its private storage on your device:

The app does not send this information to us. If device backup is turned on in your Android settings, Android may include this app data in the backup kept in your own Google account, under Google's terms, so your game and statistics can come back on a new device. You can turn backup off in your device settings.

3. Information the app does not collect

The app does not ask for or collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, files, microphone or camera input, or precise location. It has no user accounts and no sign-in, and it does not send notifications.

4. Permissions

The app asks you for no permission while it runs. The permissions below are declared in the app, most of them by the Google software it is built with, and none of them gives access to your personal files, location, contacts, camera or microphone.

PermissionWhy the app has it
Internet and network state (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE)To load the banner, check the Premium purchase, and send usage statistics and crash reports. The game itself works without a connection.
Advertising ID and Android ad services (AD_ID, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS)Declared by the Google Mobile Ads software, to serve and measure ads.
Google Play billing (BILLING)For the Premium purchase.
Play install referrer (BIND_GET_INSTALL_REFERRER_SERVICE)Declared by Google Analytics for Firebase, to learn how the app was installed from Google Play.
Prevent sleep (WAKE_LOCK)Declared by the Google software for short background tasks, such as sending a report.

5. How the information is used

Where data protection law requires a legal basis, advertising that uses identifiers and usage statistics rely on your consent where consent is required by law, and otherwise on our legitimate interest in funding and improving the app. Crash reports rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the app working. Purchases rely on the contract to provide what you bought.

6. Who receives information

We do not sell your personal information. Advertising, statistics, crash and purchase information is processed by:

Showing ads that use your advertising identifier may count as "sharing" or "targeted advertising" under some US state privacy laws. You can opt out using the choices in section 8. Google may process information in the United States and other countries outside your own.

7. How long information is kept, and deletion

We do not run our own servers for this app and hold no copy of your game data. Your game, statistics and settings stay on your device until you clear the app's data in your device settings or uninstall the app. Usage statistics are kept by Google Analytics for 2 months at event level. Crash reports are kept by Firebase Crashlytics for 90 days. Advertising and purchase data are kept by Google for periods set by Google. Your Premium purchase stays with your Google account.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal information, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Because the app has no accounts and we hold no copy of your data, we usually cannot tell which data belongs to you. If you write to [email protected], we will explain how to make your request and help as far as we are able.

9. Children

Solitaire: Classic Klondike is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed to children and is not designed for or marketed to them, and the ads in it are not set up as ads for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us at [email protected] and we will help.

10. Security

Your game and settings are kept in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read on a device that has not been modified. Information sent to Google is encrypted in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. This website

These pages do not set cookies or run analytics scripts. They are hosted by Cloudflare and load fonts from Google Fonts, so those companies receive your IP address and browser details when you visit, as with any website. The home page loads the list of Winnable deals from this site to show today's daily deal; nothing is stored in your browser.

12. Changes to this policy

If the app or this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's store listing or in the app.
