Noise generator: White
Start with a low volume and keep the device away from your baby.
How to use it
- Choose a type of noise. White is bright, pink is softer, brown is deep.
- Press Play. Start with the volume low and raise it only as far as you need.
- Set a timer if you want it to stop by itself. Fade out eases the volume down over the last 30 seconds.
Which type should I pick?
- White: the brightest. Best for masking speech and sharp noises.
- Pink: balanced and natural, like steady rain. A good all-round choice. See pink noise.
- Brown: deep and smooth, like a strong wind or distant thunder. See brown noise.
- Blue and violet: very bright, hissy sounds. They are tiring for most people and are included for completeness.
- Green: a mid-range, natural, "wooded" sound centered around the middle of the spectrum.

Volume and safety
Keep the volume low, especially for babies. For a baby's room, aim for about 50 decibels or lower at the crib and place the speaker across the room. See how loud should baby white noise be.
Notes
- The sound is generated by your browser, so there is no download and no data used while it plays.
- On some phones, the sound may stop when the screen locks. For all-night play on a phone, use the Baby White Noise app, which keeps playing in the background.
- Headphones can make noise sound louder. Do not use headphones with a baby.
