Winnable solitaire deals
Not every Klondike deal can be won. In this mode every deal comes from a list that a solver has already solved, so if you lose, it was not the deal.
Winnable solitaire only deals games that a computer solver has already won, so each one has at least one winning line. It does not make the game easy: you still have to find the line. It does remove the frustration of a deal that could never be won.
How to use the table
- Tap or click a card to play it on its best spot. Drag a card or a whole run to choose where it goes.
- Click the stock at the top left to turn over cards. Click it again when it is empty to go through the waste once more.
- Winnable deals come from a list a solver has already won. Replay any deal by its number, and the same cards appear in the Android app.
- Your game and statistics stay in this browser. Nothing is sent anywhere. Keys: U undo, H hint, Space draw.
What winnable means
A deal is winnable if some sequence of moves puts all 52 cards on the foundations. A program can search for one. The deals in this mode were solved offline by such a program, which checked them move by move. Read how our deals are made for how the list was built.
What it does and does not change
- A winnable deal can still be hard. A winning line may be long and need exact play.
- The deal is not changed by how well you are doing. There is no hidden difficulty setting.
- The deal still has a number, so you can replay it by number.
When to use it
- When you want every loss to be your own and never the deal's.
- To practice a strategy on games that can be won.
- In draw 3, where far more ordinary deals cannot be won. See is solitaire always winnable.
Winnable deals in the app
The Android app has a Winnable option when you start a new game, and its hint button follows a winning line when it can find one. The daily deal is also taken from the winnable list.
