Golf solitaire rules
Golf is a short, simple solitaire game that you can finish in a couple of minutes.
Short answer
In Golf solitaire you deal seven columns of five cards face up and play from the top card of each column onto a waste pile if it is one rank above or below the waste card. You win by clearing all 35 cards from the columns before the stock runs out.
The setup
Deal seven columns of five cards, all face up. That is 35 cards. Turn one card from the stock to start the waste. The rest of the stock is 16 cards.
How to play
- Only the front card of each column, the one with no card on it, is available.
- Play it onto the waste if it is one rank higher or lower than the waste card. The suit does not matter.
- If you cannot move, turn over a stock card onto the waste.
- In the most common version, an ace and a king do not connect around the corner.
- Win by clearing all the columns.
Tips
- Look for a long chain of cards before you play.
- Keep the stock for later and use it only when stuck.
- Take cards from the longest columns when you can.
